Motoring Weekly – Ep 127 Dr Michael Henderson

Whilst at the HSRCA Summer Festival, I interviewed Dr Michael Henderson, a motor sport safety pioneer.

Dr Henderson was interested in motor sport while at university. He met many people who significantly influenced motor sport as we know it today. He can be included in that group as he invented the six-point racing harness that has saved countless lives.

Dr Henderson also worked with other engineers, Pininfarina and Ferrari to develop the Sigma safety concept racing car. Many of the design features have found themselves in race cars over time.

The interview was held with historic racing in the background so sometimes the cars take centre stage!

Motoring Weekly – Ep 126 The 2024 HSRCA Summer Festival

The Historic Sports and Racing Car Association of NSW held their Summer Festival at Sydney Motorsports Park. It took place over the weekend of the 30th November.

I attended the first day to see how the event was run. The last time I attended a Summer Festival was back in 2020. At that time, we were under COVID rules and the attendance was low. This happened despite the circuit being able to cater for large crowds. This time though, the crowds enjoyed a great day of racing.

I used this event to test microphones and to do an important interview. However, I did record some sounds of the day. This podcast is about the Association and its importance to Australian historic racing.

Motoring Weekly Podcast – Ep 125 Motors and Masterpieces Review

In Episode 122, I interviewed ICJAG concours judge Todd Gilmour. We discussed what to expect at the Motors and Masterpieces event in Melbourne.

With that event now over for this year, I called Todd to find out how the show went. Importantly, I wanted to know which cars had won the ten categories. I also wanted to get a general feel of the event over the three days.

Motoring Weekly Podcast Ep 124 – A Throwback!

This is a throwback for the Motoring Weekly Podcast.

When I started to reboot the Motoring Weekly podcast, many people were surprised that I had published so many episodes. This was mainly due to the fact that I didn’t know most of the people I do today!

I thought it would be good to replay the very first podcast from May 2008. It was recorded with technology of the day. It doesn’t sound like me at all!
